Math hates me.

So I took my Algebra re-test, and I could do everything but the last problem... on my way downstairs, however, I suddenly realized how I could have solved the one I missed. I seriously had to keep myself from yelling, "SQUARE BOTH SIDES FIRST!" in the middle of the (empty) hallway. Dooooork.

But heh- I watched two episodes of Avatar tonight (they show two every night...), and the second one was the one where they went to the Northern Water Tribe settlement and the waterbending teacher was all sexism!yay, and Sokka totally propositioned a princess, and I was just sitting there thinking about how hilarious it was that that actually got through the kiddie!filters. Seriously, though: "Do you want to do an activity together? For some time?" What else could that have meant?
Oh RIIIIIIIIIIN, GET ON AIM. I need to obsess with youuuuuu. And have you yell at me because I haven't gotten my hands on The Sil, but that's besides the point...

Ouch about the math thing. That happens to me all the time. Last time was on the math midterm. There was one question I couldn't solve, and I was running out of time so I rushed it. The next day in chem, I had nothing to do, so I worked on that problem. (Could still remember the numbers.) Solved it in a minute. My mistake was that I didn't factor properly.

And have you yell at me because I haven't gotten my hands on The Sil, but that's besides the point...
Oh don't worry. I can yell at you for not obtaining tSil. :P

Ha, I'll do that all the time, especially numerical pattern problems. A couple of years ago I had to take an IQ test and one section was identifying patterns... there was one I couldn't solve and so I memorized and and worked on it obsessively for the next few days... it was extremely difficult (I even showed it to my math teacher, and it took him ages to figure out as well), but it felt awesome when I finally solved it in the end.

^ And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is called not having a life.

Eeeep! XD Well, at least I'll have a (small) excuse... I'd have to order it in if I wanted to buy it, and even if I did end up doing that I just have way too much other stuff to read to get into that right now. But still, it sounds amazing, and I want to devour it as soon as I'm sure I'll have the time to devote that it deserves.

Sometimes I do that... but not usually. On tests and such, people usually come up to me afterwards, and go "For question 5, I got 93.44%, what did you get?" And then I'll go "Question 5...?" "The percent yield one." "Oh, that one. Something high... ninety something. 93.44 sounds close."

So yeah, usually I just forget about it all. I guess it's just the ones that annoy me that I remember. :P

I have a feeling we're getting you too excited. It's... very dreary, but still interesting. The thing is, there's no central character to follow. It's like a history textbook. <-- my favourite comparison. You're reading about people that did things and things that happened.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, but see, I'm one of those people who actually enjoys reading textbooks. A book that's akin to a history textbook about Middle-earth is a dream come true for me.

[identity profile] gussiki.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, perfect! :D You'll love Book of Unfinished Tales. It's basically a compilation of old texts, and Christopher Tolkien's commentary, to fill in the gaps. One story (the story of Celeborn and Galadriel, I think) is so unfinished that there's more commentary than actual text. :P

Need to reread UT again... and then I want to read the twelve volume History of Middle Earth. And then the new one this year, the Children of Hurin. And whatever other books.

Gah, stupid library doesn't have the complete set. I should stop being cheap and buy my own copy.

DORK OUT XD

I hate it when that happens but most of the time I forget, unless it really buggered me.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
:D That says 'sexism', Roche, not 'sexy'.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I HAVE STARTED THINKING OF YOU WHENEVER I THINK OF DORKS. <3 Not because you are one, but because of our conversation last week. XD

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely... that's going to be right after The Sil, probably. I feel like such a failure as a Tolkien fan- I haven't read anything but The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. :P

[identity profile] gussiki.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. Except that I can add tSil and UT to my list. So I don't fail as much as you! :D butistillfailofcourse

[identity profile] marzandstars.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
SAME! WE'RE COOL! for school
Someone said somehting and in my head I was saying "LOL DORKS! IDDDDDYYYY!"

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
XD What happened to your inflated ego? You need to go answer some trivia questions, stat.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
XD Imagine if you had said it out loud; that might have turned some heads.

[identity profile] gussiki.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Somebody popped it?
