There is a purple pen sitting on the desk next to me.

Hee, I accidentally participated in the LJ strike on Friday. OH, NOES.

I haven't been on AFC since Wednesday, or something. To be honest, all the drama and social hierarchy can get annoying. I still love the site and don't plan on leaving any time soon, though.

... I don't know. Earlier (when I was actually doing homework!) I had this idea that I was going to have a lot to write about in El Jay, but apparently that's all evaporated. Hmph. I have the most pointless entries in the WORLD.

I need to upload my new mood icons. Happy Easter Sunday, everybody. *cough*NotthatIcelebrateditoranything*cough*

Ugh, yeah. I hate the drama there. AFC's supposed to be an escape from drama in RL, but then I go on there and see drama? I almost want to give up and leave, but I feel I still have a commitment...

Drammmaaa. Way too much of it.
You actually did homework?! I applaud you.

Gah, have fun uploading. So tiresome to do that XD

LUFF YOU DORK BUDDEH.

Meh, I guess my thought is that internet forums are supposed to be fun... and if you're starting to think of it more as a chore than as a hobby, then it's time to leave, or at least make some sort of change. That said, if you leave, I will stirfry your SOUL. ;)

I know, right? I was just as shocked. XD

Heh, I haven't actually done it yet. Though I'm definitely going to AS SOON AS I POST THIS ENTRY. ;-)

AND I HEARTZ YOU TOO OF COURSE. WHOO.

Ah, but modding a forum is more of a responsibility than a hobby. :P And yes, I'm trying to make some changes, but business/laziness/apathy have caught up, so the momentum has stalled...

At any rate, my dad always said that student organizations (and the Chinese community/school in his situation - he's pretty involved with the school) (and though he hasn't said it, Internet forums) are for practice. Yes, you'll meet a**holes online, just as in the Real World. But the thing is, you practice your office politics or whatever here. If you do well, then it's good experience. If you mess up, it's still experience, and it's nothing huge you lose. It's not, say, a career gone down the toilet.

Anyway, this comment has gotten too serious, so it's time to reply to your last comment.

1. Even if I leave AFC, I'll still be hanging around MSN/AIM/IM. I can't leave the people.
2. I bet you can't stirfry as well as I can! I pwn at stirfrying. Bring out the woks and the gas stoves!
3. What soul?

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed about the practicing-for-a-career thing... though it makes me really glad I don't plan on ever having an 'office job'.

... Yeah, I'm sure you're right, I can't really stirfry at all. XD

3. What soul?
Meh, good point. I hadn't really thought about that.

New reason you can't leave AFC: without you, we'll have no likely candidate for reaching the 10,000 post mark, and therefore revealing what the highest rank name is.

Seriously, though, it could happen for anything... my dad doesn't have an office job (he's a research scientist) and because of office politics, things have gotten really inconvenient for him.

At any rate, the practice is for politics, because like it or not, politics will affect you. This is the speech I got when I said I hated politics and would never be a politician - that politics would come and find me anyway. And also, leadership/teamwork, to an extent. Being able to work with people.

... Yeah, I'm sure you're right, I can't really stirfry at all. XD
Maybe I should be more worried - you might burn my soul to a crisp or something. Assuming Point Three is false. :P

1. Somebody else could reach it. Not easily, but it'll be managed.
2. The rank for 10,000 is Frond Descendant (http://forum.artemis-fowl.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6). It's only 15,000 that's unknown. :P
3. Go bribe Matt or somebody to tell you what the rank is. :P

Spam is so much fun.

Ack, that's making me think of my school... the teachers are about ten times cliquier than the students. All the science teachers hang out together, and all the English teachers eat lunch in the English project room... the social studies teachers even carpool together. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of drama goes on behind the closed doors of the teachers' room. XD
And I want to teach when I grow up. *headdesk*

ONPURPOSE.

Eeeep! See, that's even harder to attain!

Pfft, that just takes the fun out of it. Kind of like when someone suggested letting everyone choose their own personalized ranks and obliterating the Free Rank Giveaways. Just... no. XD

[identity profile] gussiki.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow. I think it's almost like that at my school. Or at least, slightly. A lot of the science teachers are good friends with each other, and same with the social science teachers.

Apparently, one of the history teachers was walking down a hallway, and he saw two science teachers walking towards him. So the history teacher yells "SCIENCE NERDS!" and turns around and runs away.

I would have paid to witness that event.

Teach? Kindergarten? Elementary? Middle school? High school? Uni? From what I've heard, for kindergarten/elementary, you have to deal with all sorts of little kids and you have to be nice and everything, and with high school you have to worry about marking things, and middle school you have to worry about the immaturity of the preteens...? :P

OHNOES!

Oh, the rank is - *gets shot by Iddy*

Exactly. 100% exactly.

*glomps Iddy for relavence* :P

Oh wow, same. That's hilarious.

Meh, right now I'm leaning towards upper elementary (fourth or fifth grade), but a month ago I was thinking high school, and a while before that it was special ed., or maybe ESL... so my ideas at this point are kind of sketchy. XD I guess I'll have to do a lot of interning in college to decide what age group I like... though I know that there's no way I want to work with uni kids. Or reallyreally young ones, like kindergarteners or pre-schoolers.

... So I'm talking to a zombie right now? Awesome. Are you going to eat my brains?

Didn't this topic come up in an MSN chat or something? Something about testing a theory and I decided on a safer, less fun, method?

*eats brains*

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, when don't zombies come up in MSN chats?
It did, though. I was talking with you and Tyrison, and then she went to go get some food, and before leaving she made some random comment about it being 'zombie food'. We decided that that meant it was going to turn her into a zombie, and you opted to hide and not face her when she came back.

... It's kind of sad that I remember stuff like this in such detail. XD
