Obligatory post-trip rambling.

Mr. LaForce: [randomly pretending to be a mime in an invisible box]
Kathy: "Ooooh, he's in a box-- quick, lock it!"

So we got back from our trip yesterday, and we're still in the process of getting everything together. This mainly involves picking up all the animals from the various places they were being boarded. Sera and Sophie were staying at the house of the Lab Rescue lady that had been fostering Sophie before we adopted her (apparently, they became the mommies of two black lab puppies while they were there). Going to her house is SO fun-- she has three (I think?) dogs of her own, and is always boarding or fostering a bunch. While we were there, there were at least eight or nine in total, including ours. I just sat on the floor and let them all bowl me over.

But what really impresses me is how organized she keeps everything. You'd think someone who had up to ten big dogs at any given point in time would just be overwhelmed, but she isn't. Her house isn't a complete mess (it's better than ours, haha), all the dogs get a good amount of attention, both the people and animals all seem really happy... it's just awesome. I'd love to have a set-up like that someday. I seriously doubt I'd ever be able (or want) to have that many dogs because I'd be working outside my house, but. I still

Anyway, today we're going to pick up Marie (the rat) from the vet where she was boarding, and tomorrow we'll get Verdi (the Jardine parrot) from the pet store where he was boarding. Later today we're also going to look into getting two more rats-- because since Rita died, Marie is alone in her cage. It's generally not a good idea to introduce rats to new cagemates unless they're all pretty young, but they're also a lot happier when they're living with other rats as opposed to being on their own. So what we're going to do is just keep the old cage (the one we were going to get rid of because they figured out how to open the food doors on their own) for Marie, and use binder clips to keep her from getting out. The new cage that we had originally gotten for the two of them before Rita died is pretty big for just one rat, so if we do end up getting two more we'll put them in there. We'll have the cages next to each other on my big back shelf so that they can at least see each other, but won't be able to really do anything in case they do end up wanting to fight. I'll also probably try having them out at the same time to see how they get along. Whoo!

TL;DR: LOL ANIMALS.

Also, fun fact-- when I started out writing the cut text for this entry, I almost started to put "{LOCKED TO...}", just out of habit. My first thought was, "wait, who is this entry locked to again?" My second thought (which came about 0.5 seconds after my first thought) was "NO DAMMIT NO".

HAHAHA beautiful quote. And lmao at your cut title. I would hope it's not in the literal sense. :P

Awww, I'd love to go to the Lab Rescue lady's house. :D Labradors are one of my favorite type of dogs and it sounds like it would be really nice there for your dogs. It's good to know that your dogs were in good hands. That's Allstate's stand. Are you in good hands?

I think that's a good idea in regards to the rats- you can see if they'll get along without having to worry about them actually hurting each other if they don't. Name one of the new rats after a House character!!!

Also, pretty icon. :D

I looooove labs. They're so laid-back and easy to get along with, both for people and for other dogs. They're definitely one of my favorite breeds to own (though they're actually the only purebred breed we've ever owned-- most of the dogs we've had have been mixed breeds from shelters).

If I do end up getting two more rats they'll both be girls-- I could name one Stacy or Lisa or Allison! XD

(ALSO IN REGARDS TO YOUR ICON, I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT THAT EPISODE WITH MY SISTER. XD)

We did! The weather wasn't always that great, and we lost one of our sideview mirrors at one point, but otherwise everything went well.

Haha, seriously. :|
