THIS ENTRY IS DEDICATED TO [livejournal.com profile] century_fox, WHO REALLY, REALLY, REALL

Mr. Zottoli: "It's fun to say 'Vagina Monologues'!"

This is literally all I've been doing for the past two weeks:

- reading
- watching TV/movies
- using the computer

I've been out of the house twice to go get blood drawn at the doctor's, but that's it. 8| I AM. SO BORED. Hopefully I'll be going back to school next week, but if the mono test comes back positive they'll want me to stay out longer. As it is, the doctor recommended that I only go for half days for at least ten days after I start going back. I hope my teachers don't flip out.

ANYWAY. In other news, I've been marathoning Dexter online and am currently in the middle of 4x07. I LOVE IT, and I have some theories about something but I don't want to get into it here because I don't feel like spoiler-cutting, so ask in the comments if you really care to know.

AND LASTLY, AS PROMISED, my list of excellent kids' books for [livejournal.com profile] lovesnotwisely (the ones that are starred are especially amazing):

Aliens Ate My Homework, by Bruce Coville (the first one isn't nearly as good as the last three, AND BY THE WAY I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING ABOUT THIS ONE, don't be turned off by the cracky title)
* Baby, by Patricia McLaughlin
Bloomability, by Sharon Creech
* A Cool Moonlight, by Angela Johnson
The Devil's Arithmetic, by Jane Yolen
The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm, by Nancy Farmer
The Egypt Game, by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
* Every Day and All the Time, by Sis Deans
Every Soul a Star, by Wendy Mass
Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick
The Headless Cupid, by Zilpha Keatley Snyder (as well as the rest of the series)
Julie of the Wolves (as well as the rest of the series, especially the third one)
Kensuke's Kingdom, by Michael Morpurgo
Kira-Kira, by Cynthia Kadohata
The Legend of the Wandering King, by Laura Gallego Garcia
Mara's Stories, by Gary Schmidt
* Mick Harte Was Here, by Barbara Park
* Our House, by Pam Conrad
Parvana's Journey, by Deborah Ellis
* Saffy's Angel, by Hilary McKay (as well as the rest of the series; I think the second and third books are the best)
Smile!, by Geraldine McCaughrean
So B. It, by Sarah Weeks
* Somebody Else's Kids, by Torey Hayden
* Stonewords, by Pam Conrad
Totto-chan, by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi
What I Call Life, by Jill Wolfson
The Whispering Road, by Livi Michael
* Zink, by Cherie Bennett

I THINK I READ KIRA-KIRA. And probably a couple others, but I'll look them up in my library today and post a list, too :3

YAY YOU UPDATED FOR ME. I FEEL SPECIAL. :D

Awww, I'm sorry you're sick :( I hope you feel better soon!

Omg I need to watch Dexter SO BAD. I still haven't seen any of the new season. *fails*

Haha, I've totally seen Aliens Ate My Homework before but never read it. I love Bloomability! (and pretty much all of Sharon Creech's books, actually) The Egypt Game is awesome, too. And Julie of the Wolves (and the other two)! Aaaaaand I haven't read any of the others. =/

fasdjk DO IT; IT'S AMAZING.

Sharon Creech is an awesome writer; I've read a few of her books, but Bloomability has always been my favorite.

It's one of my favorite shows that's on right now. ... Not that I follow anything but Dexter and House, BUT.

I need to read more of her stuff; she's such a good writer.

I've been watching it since it first came out. Brian Moser is one of my longest played characters. XD The first season really is my favorite, though. The quality of the writing has kept up, don't get me wrong, but the plot has lacked that emotional oomph that was there initially in my opinion.

Pick up her dragon trilogy - one of them's called Heart's Blood I think, can't quite remember. In any case it rocked my world in middle school. I distinctly remember curling up in bed and crying over the ending of the second one. XD

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. :\ The first season was definitely the best (I started watching it just a little before the second season came out on DVD). ALSO, WHERE DO YOU PLAY BRIAN.

I'll look into it! 8D I'm always looking for new books to read.

ROFL I don't play him anymore, it's been ages. I used to use the journal [livejournal.com profile] acrotomophile for him. Once in a while I still dust him off, but not too often. It was kind of a sloppy portrayal, tbh, because I was first starting out in LJ land at the time, but I put a lot of heart into it. xD

IN THAT CASE definitely read Graceling by Cashorn. That book was INCREDIBLE, best thing I've read all year, hands down. I cannot recommend it enough.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
FFF NO THAT LOOKS REALLY INTERESTING; I can tell you put a lot of thought into the portrayal.

*looks it up*

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
XD I DON'T BLAME YOU

[identity profile] shobogan.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
I need to watch Dexter. Like, consistently, instead of catching the random episode and being vaguely confused.

/sneakily adds A Wrinkle In Time

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Do iiiiit. It makes much more sense that way, obviously. XD

I need to re-read that one.

[identity profile] shobogan.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I would think so, yes. XD IT WAS AWESOME REGARDLESS.

I did a while ago, and it was every bit as awesome as I remembered.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
GET THE DVDS SOMEWHERE. Or watch it online; that's how I'm watching S4.

I don't even *remember* when I first read it, but it was years ago. I know I liked it, though.

[identity profile] rinhriveiel.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
I've read...
The Devil's Arithmetic
The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm
Mara's Stories (zomg I've never met anyone else that read that @_@)
...and that's it. damn, fail.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ffff it's not fail. You've read tons of books (children's and otherwise) that I haven't. :P
