Seeing America By Rail- Day 2
Sorry I didn't post this last night; we went through a semi-dead area in the evening and I couldn't upload the pictures.
Here we get into the more interesting stuff, IMHO-- we got off the east coast and into the midwest, and I walked around Chicago with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
jeannette for a few hours!
These were all taken during the early hours of daylight as we travelled through the countryside of Illinois on our way to Chicago.
And these are coming into the city from the east. It took a while to get there because we kept getting stuck behind freighters-- at one point I texted Jen and told her that we were ALMOST THERE OMG!!!!, and then like five minutes later the car attendant came around and told everyone that we had about half an hour to go. Good times. But it worked out all right and she was at the station when I got there.
I took this picture simply because I had never been to Starbucks before this.

Apparently this building used to be bright orange.
Really cool outdoor bandshell that holds concerts in the summer.
Okay, this one is weird. In Millennium Park, there's a sculpture that looks pretty much like a gigantic kidney bean (I looked it up; the real name of the piece is "Cloud Gate"). It's actually pretty cool, though.
This is actually a photo of a reflection, even though it doesn't look like it. I kind of cut Jen out of the picture by accident because I didn't realize that she was standing there.
And when you go under it and look up, it looks like this.
It's one of the original Chicago Cows on Parade. How could I not take a picture of it?
I took this while walking across the street like a boss.
A Picasso statue called "The Lady". Jen thinks it looks more like a fox and I think it looks more like a Sphynx. It also apparently doubles as a skateboard ramp now.

And these are the stairs to the lower level of the lounge.
It's funny that these people all look so serious, because in actuality everyone was shouting and laughing and having a good time. Most of the people that were sitting at the tables in the back were playing cards and gambling, and the teenage/college-age boys sitting near me (you can see a few of them in this picture) got really, really over-excited when the awesome sunset came out. It was pretty amusing.

Unfortunately I'm not going into Canada at all on this trip, so I won't get any shots of Vancouver, BC (Vancouver, Washington, I'll be going through!). I'll try to get some of Seattle, though!
