Early bus mania: the worst part of midterm exams.

:I'm totally using Sam's quote about going to Mars in my pro-space travel Astronomy paper. w00t! (Just thought you should know, y'know?
And I am currently working on The Secret of Shadow Ranch. Mwahahaha. I'm seriously obsessed with WNS-ing now- but I can't help it, because it is SO fun. Lyke seriously, dude.

Why yes, I am in a good mood because I survived my Geometry final, why do you ask? And I feel confident that I did at least okay (*knock on wood*). At least, I don't think I failed. (*knock on a lot of wood*) I still have to finish some of the non-multiple choice part tomorrow, though (I was the last one in my class to finish- yayz!), during passing time between C and D blocks (a.k.a. Band and Astronomy- and the half-hour passing time between midterms is officially awesome).

Before I move into the extensive fourth part of my entry, I will attempt to clarify something that shouldn't really need clarification, but I'm doing it anyway:
Early Bus: The buses that come at 12:15 on midterm/final days (and 9:30 on the last miderm/final day) to pick up us lucky kids who've survived two blocks of HELL (if you're the dramatic type), bordom (if you're the easily bored type), fun (if you're the insane type), or nothing (if you're either the slacker type or the gotta-lotta-free periods type)
Regular Bus: The buses that come- along with the middle school onslaught- at 2:30 every day.
Late Bus: The buses that come at... 4:00, I think? (I've never taken the late bus), to pick up those of us who have been taking missed tests, serving detention, or smoking pot in the hallways.
Get it? Good. Now on with the whining.

I was amazed at how quickly I was able to get on the early bus this afternoon- I only had to switch once, from 26 to 33. Seriously though, the school NEEDS to get better about giving the bus drivers their correct schedules. After three years, I'm getting seriously tired of going up to every bus, telling them my street address, and getting the response, "I dunno if you're on here. Sorry." I know it's not their fault, but blech. Oh yeah, and there's also the ever-popular, "Oh yeah, you're on my bus. Get on." (five minutes later) "Oops, sorry. You're not on here. You're supposed to be on that bus that left five minutes ago. Tough luck; next bus wave is in two-and-a-half hours." *headdesk* Luckily, that's never happened to me, but I've seen it happen to others a great deal.
No, my problem is my stupid street. Y'see, the dirt road I live on, Longmarsh Road, used to go through the woods and connect two semi-major roads (well, major for rural New Hampshire- and this was, like, in the '20's or something, so I'm sure they were even less 'major' then). There were (and still are) a lot of ponds and marshland along this connecting road, and the beavers built dams, flooded the road, yadda yadda yadda... and now, eighty years later, road is now two roads, each coming off of one of the major roads and ending in a dead end, with a mile-long walking path in between. (Don't blame me if this is making no sense- I'm crap at explaining things. I'm also pretty crap at typing, which is why I just nearly said that I'm 'carp' at explaining things.) However, in the town's infinite wisdom (and also probably to confuse the hell out of out-of-towners), they decided to just call both ends of the road 'Longmarsh Road'. Now, one end is heavily populated, and has about fifty houses along it. The end I live at has seven houses and a herd of buffalo. Guess which end the early bus drivers go to? I try and tell them, "It's the end near Durham Point Road, not Route 108," But they're still all, "Oh yeah, yeah, Longmarsh Road, I know where that is." And then they take me to the wrong end. And then they get mad at me when I correct their mistake, because they have to drive "all the way back down Durham Point, which is fifteen minutes out of my way, and they really should build a decent road through the woods because it'd be much more convenient, and screw the fact that it's all conservation land."
... Yeah.

I guess I should count my blessings and stop complaining, though. At least the early bus drivers came today. Our school system (again, in their infinite wisdom) always seems to make sure to hire unreliable bus drivers who are completely unfamiliar with the routes their supposed to be driving (Hence the "I don't know if you're on my bus. What school is this again?" attitude). So sometimes they just decide to screw it and not show up. This is why we are often left to wait for two hours until the regular release buses come from the middle school.

Ah, well. At least the bus drivers speak English, which is more than I can say for the ones in New Jersey.
