It's still snowing.

It's been snowing almost non-stop for over twenty-four hours now- it really started late Thursday night and continued off and on until about one in the afternoon on Friday, when it picked up and started coming down really heavily. If this continues, we might be out of school on Monday... *knocks on wood* We've decided that this is being caused by Jenny's English intern, Mr. Corrigan, who on Wednesday made some apocolyptic remark like "We'll continue the project tomorrow- if there is a tomorrow", so obviously he's created some sort of weather-controlling machine and is trying to bring down civilization as we know it. Yeah. 

Seriously, though- snow (and the snow days that come with it) is pretty much the only thing I like about winter. I hate the cold, and the slush, and the ice, and basically everything else about it. I pretty much never go outside in the winter, unless I absolutely have to- and I mean that quite literally. Gah. The only exception I make is when I'll occasionally put on about three layers of clothing and go sledding, or just fool around with the dogs in the backyard. Other than that... no. 

Did the groundhog even see his shadow this year? I don't think I ever found out.

I got a snow day last year. First snow day in thirty years for my school. Yeah, we suck. It's because we're a downtown school. Other schools get closed when there's an inch of snow.

Groundhog... well, there's a lot of groundhogs. Wiarton Willie, the famous one in Ontario, didn't see his shadow. Nor did this other groundhog (checking wiki, I think it's Staten Island Chuck, in New York). But the one in Pennsylvania (wiki says Punxsutawney Phil what a name) saw his shadow.

The 'other schools' you mention sound a bit like the schools I went to in New Jersey. I remember one time a big snowstorm was predicted, and they panicked and closed school for the next three days... we only ended up getting a couple of inches. I think the people there are still laughing about that.

Huh, Punxsatawney Phil is the only one I'd ever heard of. They should all get together in their own little groundhog conventions, so they can actually make up their minds.

Well, you know how good Wiarton Willie is?

Wiarton Willie I died around Groundhog Day, maybe eight years ago. On Groundhog Day that year, it was foggy. Willie, being dead, didn't see his shadow. And had he been alive, he still wouldn't have seen his shadow!

Wiarton Willie's so good he can make a prediction even when he's dead! :D
