HARRY POTTER SPOILERS AHEAD!

Mr. Zottoli: "If you study, then you'll take the test like you studied. If you wing it, you'll take the test like you wung it."

Went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince yesterday avec ma famille (we were going to go with Crystal, but she's in Maine). I thought it was pretty good (I've come not to expect too much from the movies), but I agree with what other people have said: if you haven't read the book, it wasn't going to make all that much sense. My mom said she thought it felt like it had no real plot, and that nothing really happened apart from Dumbledore dying.

Also, my favorite characters were Draco and Bellatrix (especially Bellatrix asdfsdjk). And Draco kind of reminded me of Azula from Avatar. What is wrong with my life.

Oh, and ETA: LAVENDER BROWN SCARED ME. Mostly because I have actually known girls IRL that acted like that around their boyfriends. Ughhhhhh.

LAVENDER BROWN WAS THE BEST PART OF THAT MOVIE.

Well, not really, but she was epic. In that really... really freaky way.

I knowwww. About halfway through the movie I was suddenly like, "ASFDSJK SHE IS JUST LIKE [insert a few select girls I went to high school with here] AHHHHHH".

Harry was pretty hilarious while under the Felix Felasdfjkwhatever potion, though. And the ending was saddddd, I thought. 8(

[identity profile] anesidorian.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW. She reminded me of a few girls I knew too s-sob

Ah, the insta-drunk potion :D THAT was the (srsly) best part of the movie. And the ending was saaaaaad! D: I just get so mad how the writers totally ignore the fact that Ron is, y'know, a person.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Generally, the movie writers aren't all that good at characterization IMHO. I never really feel like any of the main characters are "people"; it's all in the supporting cast for me (McGonagal/Luna/random Death Eaters FTW).

[identity profile] anesidorian.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah I definitely agree with you there. The supporting characters have always been amazing.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
And they live up to their book counterparts, too; that's always more important to me than plot, actually yeah, I'm weird. Especially McGonagall: she's pretty much my favorite character EVER in the books, and I am never disappointed with her film performance. 8D

[identity profile] anesidorian.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed! It's always comforting to know some parts of the movies live up to the novel counterpart |D

I'm always disappointed by the movies, but maybe it's because I liked to books so much :| And the end? There's like and epic battle on the book and on the movie the bad guy just...walk away..I was all O_o the helll????

I loved Draco too X3

Haha icon

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that was definitely a letdown; it would have been amazing if they'd left the battle in. It just seems like they took out epic things that were actually IN the book, and replaced them with random (but still kind of epic) things that WEREN'T in the book (the fight at Ron's house, etc.).

Jack is love ♥

[identity profile] lylith-st.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't understand why they burned Weasley's home and add that useless scene instead of the final battle. Perhaps it is because they are not going to show Bill and Fleur wedding on the last movie. I mean..that scene has no much sense at all.. :/ And Fenrir did nothing at all ont he movie.

And what they did to Narcissas hair omfg >_< But I liked how the actress portrayed her.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I mean, it was fun to watch and all, but. What? :|

I don't even remember what her hair looked like specifically, haha.

[identity profile] lylith-st.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
;A; stupid movies

She suppsoed to be blond and kinda beautifu. Not have a mix of black/blodne hair...>>'

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
... Clearly they wanted the audience to confuse her with Cruella DeVille.

[identity profile] lylith-st.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
ROLFMAO XD clearly!

[identity profile] century-fox.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Bellatrix = pwnage.

And that's scary that you actually knew girls who acted like Lavender. I've been fortunate enough not to have met any myself.

But yeah, this movie was good but not one of my favorites. Especially because of the anticlimactic ending.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW RIGHT. She was so crazyyyyy.

I knew a trio of them who were sophomores when I was a junior. And they were all in my math class. It was kind of horrifying.

I think I liked the fifth movie the best (or maybe the first?), but I haven't seen the earlier ones in a while, so. The first one followed the book the best, if I'm remembering correctly.

[identity profile] century-fox.livejournal.com 2009-07-26 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
ZOMG SCARY D: (about the crazy obsessive girls in your math class)

And the fifth one was probably my favorite, followed by the fourth. Although I think that the main reason I like the fourth so much is because I've seen it so many times and have a lot of memories/inside jokes connected with it. I haven't seen the first three in forever, though, so I can't really judge fairly.

YOU ONLY SAW IT NOW!? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I saw it at midnight

IT'S KINDA FUNNY, I KNOW A GIRL WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE LAVENDER AND KIND OF ACTS LIKE HER (but not around guys at least).
HOLY SHIT DID YOU JUMP AT THE PART WHERE THE INFERI JUMPED OUT OF THE WATER!? OUR ENTIRE THEATRE DID

[identity profile] super-pineapple.livejournal.com 2009-07-27 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
CRAP I NEED AN HP ICON.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-27 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I have never seen any movie on its midnight premiere (those that have them, at least). I feel like I'm missing out on some important life experience.

AND YES, I DID. THE GUY SITTING NEXT TO ME LAUGHED AT ME. XD

[identity profile] super-pineapple.livejournal.com 2009-07-27 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
IT WAS SO FUCKING SCARY BECAUSE YOU JUST KNEW IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN. BUT THEN IT DIDN'T. AND THE IT DID!!!!!!!

And you are missing out: it's not weird at all if you cosplay or become increasingly geekishly excited.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2009-07-27 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
THIS.

I have never cosplayed in my life :( ... Random Halloween costumes don't count.
