Meme from [livejournal.com profile] anesidorian

Almost a month late, buuuuuut.

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

1. pippi longstocking
PIPPI LONGSTOCKING IS COMING INTO YOUR TOWN
THE ONE NO ONE CAN BE DOWN
OH NO NO NO
THE ONE WHO'S FUN TO BE AROUUUUUUUUND

... aka, Pippi Longstocking is awesome and I pretty much wanted to be her when I was little. The incredibly bad and cheesy movie from the 80s is still one of my guilty pleasures.

2. schnitzel without noodles
In one of the songs in The Sound of Music there's a line about schnitzel with noodles. I prefer my schnitzel without noodles. 8|

3. proper nouns in scrabble
I STRONGLY believe that when playing a game of Scrabble, proper nouns should be fair game. No one I've ever played with will side with me on this one. 8(

4. banerries
Where my username comes from! It's a word coined by Alex the parrot to mean "apple". Apparently, he thought that apples looked like cherries and tasted like bananas, so he took "ban-" from banana and "-erry" from cherry to create a new word that he thought made more sense than "apple". This event proved that he at least partially understood language syntax. In short, I ♥ ALEX.

5. bartending in the dark
A reference to a funny Fandom Wank thing. I don't bartend myself, I promise.

6. john the evil slytherin
A reference to a HILARIOUS Harry Potter badfic that I *think* was called "The Year of Fire"-- It was quoted on [livejournal.com profile] babb_chronicles ages ago, but I can't find the actual post.

7. stealing gus's innocence
Who DOESN'T like stealing Gus's innocence, really? Also, I miss MSN chats.

I also have nothing... of value to say anymore, really. My life is so everyday and regular; I don't want to bore you all by posts filled with nothing. Nooo, I save that for Plurk.

[identity profile] havs.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG ALEX'S LAST WORDS.

Kljghsalkdjgh /tears up. sob

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
YES.

That really did almost make me cry when I read about it. ;;

[identity profile] havs.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
So adorable, fff. ;; I want a parrot like Alex.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, right! I'd love to have an African Gray sometime, but they need a lot of time and care so I don't know if I'll ever have time to have one.

[identity profile] havs.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
We had a brown-headed african grey or something before, when I was little. He learnt a lot of sounds, but after mum got glasses he flipped out and went crazy, so we had to give him away, orz orz

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. D: I hope he's still okay now! Apparently it's not uncommon for birds to do that. We have six cockatiels and a Jardine's parrot, and ALL of them freak out if we wear hats.

[identity profile] havs.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Silly birds. >: I will stick to ferrets.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ferrets are awesome toooooo. I'd love to have one of those someday as well, but they're apparently escape artists, and so I'd be nervous about having them in the house with our dogs. DX Rodent-wise, I stick to rats. :P

[identity profile] havs.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
We keep ours in a play-pen (though Calypso managed to escape from it and dislocate her itty bitty arm -.-) and our dogs are totally fine with them. The younger one thinks they're his babies and is super protective of them, and loves to play with them gently.

And ferrets aren't rodents!! They are weasels. :>

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
We have a terrier, who would love nothing more than to kill them. 8( Our other two dogs would probably be fine, though, if their behavior with my rats is anything to go by-- I don't allow them much contact because I'm paranoid, but one of our labs just ignores them and the other likes to give them tongue baths. XD

Really? I thought weasels were considered rodents too, haha.

I don't have much of value to say on LJ, either. =/ I still comment and read my f-list's entries, and I try to update at least once every couple of weeks, but I just don't have anything going on in my life that I feel like writing about. That's why all my latest entries haven't been RL-related, haha.

Wait there was a Pippi Longstocking movie? o.O I read the book about 8796798352 times (except I don't think I have it anymore *sobs*) but I had no idea there was a movie.

I AM TOTALLY WITH YOU ON THE PROPER NOUNS. I tried to make "Bauer" once (as in Jack Bauer from 24) and my aunt told me that I couldn't do it because it's not an actual word. Lame. I think we should play Scrabble together and use proper nouns. XD

Your username's origin is awesome. And yay for stealing Gus's innocence! :D

PICK ME FOR THE MEME I MIGHT DO IT EVEN THOUGH MY INTERESTS AREN'T COOL LIKE YOURS

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Saaaame. I don't even have as much to say about *online* stuff. XD

There have been a few movies, I think! The only two I know about are a Swedish one that was dubbed HORRIBLY (the people's mouths never matched up with their words; it was kind of hilarious to watch), and the aforementioned 80s one.

I AGREE. Someday, I will come and visit you with a Scrabble board.

I'LL DO IT TODAY /o/

[identity profile] century-fox.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I USED A PROPER NOUN IN SCRABBLE LAST NIGHT AND THOUGHT OF YOU :D

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
GO YOU! /o/

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
LATE LATE RIDICULOUSLY LATE BUT:

6. john the evil slytherin
I think I've actually heard of the Year of Fire. Also, I tried googling "The Year of Fire" fanfic to see if there was anything... and I found this post. It's a bit scary how fast Google is.

7. stealing gus's innocence
...you actually have this in your Interests? I miss the lolz. Life is too srs these days.

Yeah, I don't really have anything of value to put on LJ now. It doesn't help that I'm busy. At least in high school I could talk about music and trivia and stuff... but these days pretty much all I do is study.

On an unrelated note, it's impossible for me to do the meme because I was too lazy to actually put any interests down.

[identity profile] century-fox.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Interests: linux, trivia, being corrupted, snarking, being given multiple nicknames, computer-related stuff, drugs.

THERE I HAVE SEVEN INTERESTS FOR YOU, PUFF. :D

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Being corrupted", at least, needs to go in there. XDD

[identity profile] gussiki.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Only three or four of those are true, and of those, one is a subset of another. Also, where's music? :P

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I think me, Mariam, and possibly Annika both added it a while ago! I don't know if they still have it, though. AGREED.

Same. :\ High school was so much more interesting than college for me. And I want to join a trivia team here, but I don't think there is one!

YOU NEED TO LIST STUFF IN YOUR INTERESTS SO I CAN GRILL YOU.

[identity profile] gussiki.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's partly to do with the fact that in the first half of high school, I was a nobody who did nothing at all. In the second half, I got more involved and found a "better" balance. Right now... I'm still in the first half of uni, being a nobody who's not involved at all, etc.

Probably... but I'm too lazy to list anything, not to mention explain them. Also, my interests are rather narrow and not as varied as yours. :P And even if I gave you seven interests right now... that'd probably defeat the point of this meme.

[identity profile] grapewhine.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
PUFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFY~

[identity profile] grapewhine.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
REALLY. WHO DOESN'T?!

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
WHO DOESN'T WHAT

[identity profile] rinhriveiel.livejournal.com 2010-03-09 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I have never had schnitzel. So I don't know if I'd prefer it with or without noodles. Also, Pippi Longstocking just makes me think of Gilmore Girls. Ha.

[identity profile] banerry.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
XDD I've never even seen that show, but I've heard of that episode! They watch the Swedish version with the horrible dub.
